I know You’re tired of my peripheral praise

Giving You glory out the the corner of my eye

Avoiding the conversation I know we need to have

Too busy looking out for me, myself and I

We reach for everyone and everything else

The remote, the phone, one more chip

Abstaining from the true intimacy

Mentioned in Matt Redman’s Heart of Worship

We say spending time with You is time consuming

but we make time for who and what we want

The truth is we’ve lost our appetite

Leaving our spirit man weak, dull and gaunt

Enjoying every pleasant distraction

At times preferring lies over the truth

May I crave You like no other

Lord may my new addiction be YOU

  1. Praying that I too can be addicted like you dear sister…to the ONLY One who can fully satisfy. Thank you so much Ericka for your transparency and for sharing your heart. This is sacred space and I thank you for anointing it with your words. Amen!

  2. This is a beautiful post! Most look at the word addiction and see it in a negative way. This puts a positive spin on it. I pray that you will become more addicted and never let go. As I pray for you please pray the same for me. God Bless!
