MANAGING MY EXPECTATIONS #poetry

Managing my expectations

makes being loved by you

or not loved by you easy

Waiting on whether or not I should

wait for you to lift the weight

that you said you would

I find it freeing and insatiably

delicious to expect

nothing from you

You gave me what you have

that’s why my arms are empty

You shared what’s on your mind

that’s why I dialogue alone

You released your greatest treasure

and that’s why the chest lies bare

Not to worry

I’m managing my expectations

Still smiling fondly

with thoughts of being wooed

Just won’t gift wrap my most

expensive essence…

Will no longer waste time

Waiting to give all of me

to none of you

    1. Whoa! That’s so cool to hear you were inspired Momma!!! And please “not as inspiring as yours” is NOT the case cutie patootie! That’s the beauty of our language as writers…enjoying the different dialects and accents on the same team!!!
