AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT | WHERE POETRY MEETS GIRL | Meet Ansel Brown #Jamaican #Poet

Hungry for new; I was invited by one for whom I have great respect, to dine on a feast prepared in love. Allowing the gift embedded in the work of Ansel Brown to feed me, I quickly learned he was well seasoned…and just new to me

I paced myself in perusing the pieces I had access to in an effort to honor the time he spent living them. I found custom made goodness awaiting me in several poems but have selected one of my favorites to share with you.

IN SEPTEMBER

Written by Ansel Brown. No copyright infringement intended.

In September

Fresh flowers are grown

From an ever-changing earth,

New vows are made with nature,

Fierce friendships were forged from

The fiery furnace

Of an infernal summer.

Inexhaustibly long days

And clear star-filled nights

Are never-ending,

Till they do.

The perfect bloom of ripening

Adolescence fades,

The first leaf falls,

Other fast-withering days follow,

Till beneath the tree

Where we stood, laughed, played,

Our entire sweet season

Lay

Withered. Gone.

The alarm of age and change

Can be heard for miles.

New students run out to look.

Old classes are exchanged

In

September.
