My husband is a very humble, hardworking man. It’s an honor to share his press release (without his asking) in my home away from home, authenticitee!

It’s not easy being new anywhere and that includes being a new artist. Watching my husband take a risk as an indie, unsigned artist, I know firsthand that the struggle is REAL! Many Blessings to everyone launching into their own field of dreams today and always!

Grammy-Nominated Kevin Arthur Releases Debut Album, “MERGE”

A compilation of African, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae and R&B influences combining family artistry with uplifting lyrics and instrumentation

*New York, NY, April 8— Grammy nominated, Stellar Award winning producer/musician, Kevin Arthur, released his debut album, MERGE, on April 1, 2015. Stepping into the forefront from Musical Director and/or Bassist for internationally renowned artists including Common, Christina Aguilera, and Les Nubians, Kevin is gracing the public with his infusion of “sincere sweet soul” using the rhythms of African, Hip Hop, Jazz, Reggae and R&B influences, taking listeners on a passage of inspirational muse and progressive harmony.

Kevin is a trained musical talent who attended both the The Creative and Performing Arts H.S. (CAPA) and Martin Luther King High School in his native hometown of Philadelphia, PA.  He went on to play with the likes of Jill Scott, The Roots, Kenny Lattimore and Musiq Soulchild.

After a successful career on the road wit

h many talented artists, Kevin’s inspirational roots, as well as his affection for all genres of music, led to his decision to produce his own album.  MERGE not only gives voice to his creativity – his true desire to encourage people is prominent throughout his lyrics and instrumentation.

Kevin says,”I knew I wanted to be a musician from the age of 3 when I first heard the late legendary Andraé Crouch’s “This is Another Day” album. From being moved by the drummer’s beat on that track to now being in a place where I am able to inspire others through my own music. I am truly blessed and honored to share my story and merge the different roads I have traveled to this final destination – the MERGE album.”

The album is a family affair, featuring appearances from Kevin’s wife of 17 years, Ericka Arthur who lends background vocals on “Danse”.  Kevin is also joined by his children, Kevin Arthur, Jr. on “Lively Up” and Kayla Arthur who sung and co-wrote “Polar”.

Additional tracks include “The King”, dedicated to Andraé Crouch, featuring drummer John Lawson (Kanye West, Musiq Soulchild), “Tears for Fears”,  featuring guitarist Justin ‘GuitarSlayer’ Lyons (Zendaya, Chrisette Michele), “Peace/The Prodigal Son” featuring Estee Bullock (Hezekiah Walker, DeWayne Woods) & Johnny “Smurf” Smith (Jill Scott, Ledisi) ; “Passports” featuring Criss Cross recording artist and Jazz pianist Orrin Evans, Korey Riker (Elvis Costello, John Legend), George ‘Spanky’ McCurdy (Lady GaGa, Mariah Carey), Pablo Batista (Alicia Keys, Richard Smallwood); “Relevant” featuring Holy Hip Hop Recording Artist Joshua Raymond.

In an overcrowded sphere inundated with inspiration e v e r y w h e r e…

I too now lend my voice.

Perhaps in between the oft interrupted syncopated rhythm of life, you also find yourself intermittently malnourished; though immersed in song, surrounded by people, quotes, verse, pics, memes, sermons and prose.

Mind if I Join You?

We’ll sit and talk transiently. Laugh. Cry. Pray. Daydream…all in no particular order of course. We’ll dance in between rain drops and seek shelter under the shadow of the Almighty. I’ll be brazenly assertive at times (hence the caps) with much to say about matters embedded in my heart; while whispering encrypted messages of hope on other days; hoping you…don’t notice me at all. I’m here now and it’d be cool if you decided to stay awhile. I’ll speak from experience, keenly aware it doesn’t always convey expertise. I’ll share authentically as the Holy Spirit leads. I’ll vent at times revealing soulish frailty. I’ll give praises to God unashamedly, whose deposit in me may be what you need.

Campaign promises? No.
An invitation of sorts? Yes.
Authentic? Always.

It’s possible I may be carrying just what you need to face another moment. You see, carrying what you may need takes the focus and pressure off of me. Another human being is not what you nor I need. Its God through Christ Jesus. Yeah, He’s Deity to me (that’s why I always use a lower case “e”).

An invitation? Thou sayest.

The choice? All yours.
Authentic? Always.

So in closing…(how formal)

A few disclaimers before I bid you adieu
Just some things I should mention
Oblige me, won’t you?
Doubt I’d need to say that again
You’re free to be you, as I am me
Though my grammar may make you cringe
I have a burden for the hurting
so they’re my only concern
So in spite of run on sentences coupled with schismatic punctuation
Its a blessed space (drops mic, court’s adjourned)
Now that you’re here
Enjoy yourself
Smile, take it all in
Oh and let’s not be selfish Beloved
Next time…bring a friend.

Inspired to inspire,
